Person Centered Therapy
Person-Centered Therapy, also known as client-centered therapy or Rogerian therapy, is a humanistic approach to counseling that places the individual at the heart of the therapeutic process.
Developed by psychologist Carl Rogers, this approach emphasizes the importance of creating a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. The central tenet of person-centered therapy is unconditional positive regard, where the therapist offers genuine acceptance and empathy towards the client, fostering an atmosphere of trust and support. Through active listening, reflection, and non-directive guidance, the therapist encourages the client's self-exploration, self-acceptance, and personal growth.
Person-Centered Therapy values the inherent capacity within each individual for self-understanding and self-direction, empowering clients to define their own goals and navigate their unique path to healing and well-being.
